Welcome to the ramblings of a Ranchers' Daughter, Farmers' Wife...

Hello neighbors......

Like everyone, I wanted a place to journal for myself my thoughts and ideas for that next project or the PHD/UFO's I have hidden somewhere in my house. Hope to meet new neighbors and share ideas and maybe just get inspired for that next project.

And as miss Julia says.... "we all have so much to learn and so much more to share", so come join me and let's be neighbors.

The beginning....I am originally from the Black Hills of South Dakota (yes, Mount Rushmore was practically in our backyard) and presently live in the Turtle Mountains of North Dakota. Our little farm is just 3 miles south of the Canadian Border and we can see the Peace Towers at the International Peace Gardens from our diningroom deck doors. So very awesome to view in any season of the year.

As my husband says, I am a woman of many talents and I love sharing those talents with others. Course, he is my "jack of all trades", so we go together like peanut butter and jam, bacon and eggs, salt and pepper.........you get the point.

My heritage of being talented comes from my great-great grandmother's, great grandmother's, grandmother's on both sides of my parents and of course my mom, so I guess you can say...It's in my jeans. I also have two sisters and two daughters that are very talented when comes to the homemade things we make for family and friends.

I was never the artzy type when in school, but you could find me in the Home Ec. room when not in class elsewhere. Both my sisters, Tina and Judy did the minerlogy, woodworking and art classes, me I was more the "Betty Crocker" type. Started sewing when I was seven in 4-H and we were called the Rapid Valley Hillbillies, oh what memories I have of that time.

Anyway, I have continued to sew through all my years since. I made clothes for family, teachers and friends. As I got married, my children had all homemade clothes till they got to high school, then of course it was "un-cool" cept'n my son - you just couldn't find a western shirt for under $20. Now I spoil my five grandchildren and one step-granddaughter. Oh-yea, my husband too.

About the year 1999, I started thinking I could do some quilting, my kids were grown, no grandkids on the horizon yet and I wanted to sew. So I took up another hobby and I've been quilting since.

As I get this blog going, I will start posting pictures and such, and maybe you will show me and everyone else your talent.

Since 2004, I started teaching beginner sewing and quilting classes. I can't tell you how many 4-H youth and other teens I have taught, but I know till this day, they are still sewing or quilting for themselves and family.

Well, I should let you get back to what you need to do and I will continue working on my next project and updating my blog. I will keep you all informed of what happens in the life of the Ranchers' Daughter, Farmers' Wife. Till next time, God be with you and enjoy your day.
